It’s around this time of year I get to thinking
About all the things I wish I’d said or done
If I ever get myself together I’ll be stunned
I know that I can’t be the only one

Resolutions rarely lead to revolutions
No not everyone can spark one from their bed
I’m tired and uninspired, truth be told rather be dead
The past is something I can’t seem to shed

But it’s Christmas I’ll go through the motions
Atoning for mistakes I haven’t made
It’s the litmus, of my devotion
To people that don’t matter anyway

Just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean I’m having fun
Despite all my ambition, what exactly have I done?

I keep hoping maybe next year things will change
Then when nothing’s different I try to assuage and smile

Or anyone around it that might disagree
